The Vineyards

Where man and nature meet themselves.

The estate lies between the territories of Montefollonico and Montepulciano and occupies about 32 hectares, of which 16 are specialized vineyard.

The vineyards are planted on hilly terrain of pliocene origin, between 300 and 350 meters asl.

In the Montefollonico area the soil is mainly of medium clayey texture while in Montepulciano there are extensive sandy zones. The former area yields wines with more body, character and strength, the latter wines of greater elegance and finesse.

The earliest part of the family property dates from the middle of the 19th century. Considerable additions were made 80 years later, while the last vineyards were transformed from traditional to specialized cultivation at the end of the 1960s.

Standing in the midst of the vineyards is the ancient farmhouse “Acerone”, marked on maps dating from 1500 AD with this same name, and inhabited for centuries by families of farm labourers.

Because of its venerable history it is a symbol of continuity between two worlds and is today the name of our flagship wine.

L'Acerone

Standing in the midst of the vineyards is the ancient farmhouse “Acerone”, marked on maps dating from 1500 AD with this same name, and inhabited for centuries by families of farm labourers. Because of its venerable history it is a symbol of continuity between two worlds and is today the name of our flagship wine.

Per questi trascorsi “venerandi” quasi a simbolo della continuità fra due mondi, Acerone è oggi anche il nome del vino più rappresentativo della nostra produzione.
